Happy Birthday to my sweet five year old!
All in all, it was a pretty good day...you know, after he got over the cake debacle (of me making the wrong brand of cake...yeah seriously!)
Which would you prefer?
(Adam apparently has a thing against Betty Crocker)
...Then there was the whole cheese incident...
...And the sloppy joes that no one would eat, because they "tasted funny"...
...And the being out of wrapping paper...
...and of course there were the giant 72-hour-kit candles decorating his Betty Crocker cake, because one of the kids made off with the birthday candles I'd just bought...then again, I think he ended up liking his big giant candles!
At the end of the day, Adam jumped into Glen's arms to tell him all about his great birthday. Not a thing was mentioned about cake mix brands, candles, wrapping paper, cheese, or yucky sloppy joes, so despite the craziness it ended up being a very happy day for the newest five year old in the world.
Thanks to all of you for your phone calls, e-cards, and blog posts....they seriously made his day!
Glad to hear that Adam ended up having a happy birthday after all :o)
ReplyDeleteHehe! Sounds like quite a day! I'm relieved that it all turned out in the end. I certainly would've never guessed that a 5 year old would have an opinion about the brand of cake mix used!
ReplyDeleteI am a little offended that no one said anything about the giant candles...as I felt like they encapsulated the mood of the entire day!
ReplyDeleteWeren't those craters in the cake awesome?
Happy happy birthday Adam!!
ReplyDeleteNice candles on your gorgeous cake!
Love, Grandpa and Grandma
I grew up watching and later helping my mom build and decorate wedding cakes. Because so much time is spent on the decorating aspect of the project, we use cake mixes for the cake. There is a difference, and you wouldn't catch either one of us baking anything but DUNCAN HINES!! Way to go Adam!
