With the dark, saggy circles around our eyes, our stiff, sleep deprived gait, and paint spattered clothing, instead of lively party animals, it was more likely that we would have been mistaken for ugly, overgrown skunks.
The summary of our Christmas break:
Got off to a promising start with our annual gingerbread house party at our home with 12 kids making their own confectionery delights.
Had a quiet, simple Christmas Eve at home reading the scriptures and singing.
Had a fun Christmas morning at home.
Enjoyed Christmas evening with Glen's aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandmother.(no pictures of the aunts, uncles, and cousins, since I left my camera equipment at home that night...so here's a classic Santa picture from the ward party.)
Finished off Christmas night at home enjoying the company of the missionaries.
Spent every waking moment from Christmas to New Years at home neck deep in projects with an occasional board game now and then.
Celebrated the new year at home with ice cream sundaes, while we continued our projects.
Got so completely over our heads with projects, I couldn't even bring myself to blog (*gasp*).
All I need now is a LONG, long, long one of these...
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about anything. I frankly enjoyed the quiet, simple time with my family unfettered with deadlines, routine, and schedules. I guess I just felt a little bad when my kids, in their eagerness to leave our house, were only too ecstatic this morning getting back on the school bus.
Perhaps a few trips to places other than Home Depot were in order.
Stay tuned for project pictures coming soon...
LOL! Oh Lara. The skunk photo is a keeper.
ReplyDeletePartying all the time is not all it's cracked up to be.
We now only have one partially painted room for two weeks of vacation...and who knows when it will get finished.
Oh. well. It still looks like you had your fair share of fun.
I didn't know you were a skunk for Halloween. That's silly!
ReplyDeleteHey, I have the same shirt as Adam.

ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you could use a nap after your break! Maybe Matt could watch your kids while you try out your new toy that should've arrived today.
ReplyDeleteWhat would you think of that?
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should leave a few to help out?
