Is it because I like to stay connected with family and friends? Or just that I like to write? Or that I love sharing my stories and photos? Or perhaps it's just because I like having a creative outlet that's totally cost and mess free?
While all these reasons are undoubtedly true, it wasn't until I received the following message from a friend that I really understood the true passion behind why I like to blog so much.
"I just looked at your blog. YOU ARE HILARIOUS! Who knew!"
That's it! For as long as I can remember I've tried to be funny. I've admired my siblings and friends who come by it so naturally and wondered why it seems so hard for me.
Sadly I have to admit that I've never uttered a witty comment in my entire life. Never. Of course, any of you who knows me in person are not surprised by this fact, but for those of you who don't know me here it is spelled out for you:
My brain + My mouth = blubbering
But somehow,
My brain + My fingers = occasionally funny reflections on life
And it is for those occasional moments when I capture a witty reflection on life and make someone laugh that I am completely and totally hooked on blogging.
Your reflections about yourself describe me almost perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWhen I try to speak off the cuff or ad lib something funny, I always make a fool of myself. But, let me take the time to write something down and I can usually come up with something that makes sense.
I have always envied those with perfect comebacks. I always think of the right thing to say or the correct comeback a day or so after the perfect time has already passed.
Glib not am I.
P.S. We absolutely adore your reflections on life, your family, and your childhood. You have a real gift. Thanks for sharing!!
Ryan and I were saying just a couple days ago that we are so much funnier as bloggers than we are as real people. And if the people who read our blog that we don't know well ever meet us they will be disappointed by how boring we really are!
ReplyDeletePS Your blog is one of my favorites to read! You crack me up every time. Maybe it's also because every time I read it I feel like I am reading about me own life.... :-)
That's why I like blogging too.
ReplyDeleteIRL I'm sort of dorky. On my blog, I'm only slightly dorky. Its a win win!

Andie, you and Lara are far more alike than you will ever know.
ReplyDeleteBoth of you-amazing young mothers.
We love your blog posts as well.

I think I like blogging because I like all the attention!
ReplyDeleteI for one and glad that something magic happens when you combine your brain with your fingers! I love reading your blog and enjoy the chuckles I get out of it as well. Keep up those funny reflections on life!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe it. I'm sure you're lots of fun in real life. But I echo your reasons for loving blogging. All of them.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you continue to blog! You are one of my favorite bloggers to read about!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, I am no funnier blogging than I am in real life. The good news is Andrew is funny and he provides proper comedy to my blog on occasion!
ReplyDeleteI love reading your blog for your creativity and humor! You're amazing!
