It evaluated major metropolitan areas in America for causes of death, diet of residents, mental health, physician availability, and percentage of the population that walk or bike to work and then ranked the cities on how they fared in these areas.
What's the verdict?
America’s Top 10 Fittest Cities:
1. Washington DC
2. Minneapolis
3. Denver
4. Boston
5. San Francisco
How cool are we?
You already know that we live near DC aka America's fittest city!
But did you also know that I grew up in the Minneapolis area?
And Glen grew up in Denver?
So, just like that 1, 2, 3....our cities rock the world!
Don't I look healthier already?
Lol, very nice! : )
ReplyDeleteI knew there was a reason I loved Minneapolis...OH, and why I might be the fattest person here...UGHHH..
ReplyDeleteI do love this city..but Shhhh it is our little secret...I want to keep it quiet ;)
Thanks for all your comments...and I am happy to oblige with Minn-E-SOOOO-Ta talk whenever you feel homesick...LOL
Of course you rock Lara! I love carrot ice cream too! After all, SF is #5 on the list, so we are at least a little healthy out here too!
ReplyDeleteToo funny. Love the carrot ice cream!
ReplyDeleteNo surprise that there aren't any cities in Michigan listed there! I've gained nearly 15 lbs. since I've moved back. I attribute it to the long, cold, dark winters. I'd rather be snuggled up inside eating something warm and comforting. =)
We better move back to DC before I gain too much more!
Well since I'm in the south where EVERYTHING is fried, I can pretty much guess we are on the bottom of that list! Not that I fry everything, but when you go through town all you smell is fried chicken!
ReplyDeleteYay for Minneapolis and I agree, love the carrot ice cream also. Where can I get some of that??
ReplyDeletehahaha! Love the pic!
ReplyDeletebut hey, I had no idea Washington DC was the fittest city! I'm surprised it overtook SF!
HILARIOUS! I can't even write something better because that is what I want to type every time I just look at your blog...and those pictures of Spence! I am just calmer looking at a boy like that. You are one lucky mom and very healthy too!!
ReplyDeleteMen's Fitness magazine had the same ranking a few weeks ago with a totally different result.

DC was only # 18, while SLC was # 1
MSP and Denver were in the top 2 or 3.
So, I guess it all depends on who is taking the survey.
Well now, the expectations on you are now set high. Better get out for a run now.
