You Tell Me...

Who's the taller of the two baldies in our house?
Glen still thinks he's got the victor's crown,  but I'm thinking it's too close to call.

What do you think?

UPDATE:

Spence's ANC is now over 2000, which is a great recovery of his blood counts.

Round 3 of chemo officially starts on Monday.

Feel free to pray for us as we make some heavy duty, life and death decisions in the next week or two.   Additionally, any transplant recipients out there who want to get in touch with us, we're welcoming all of the advice we can get right now.

Other than getting pinched by a teen son of ours at approximately one minute past midnight, we had a very fun Saint Patty's Day today.  Glen, Cami, and Spencer helped with a big service project/fundraiser at the church, while the younger kids and I did Saturday chores and played in the neighborhood creek.  Friends brought us some fun surprises and we got to eat a yummy green dinner from the Woodhouses!

  1. Looks like a tie! Glen may have a mm or two on him, but only by a "hair" (pun intended).

Ellie seems amused by the green dinner. We used to invite the sister missionaries over for a completely 'Irish green' dinner every St. Party's day up in Blaine. Menu included green mashed potatoes, green rolls, green drink, green hello salad, peas, with a green frosted cake for dessert, etc. etc. Always fun and the sisters loved it.

We will join you in fervent prayer as you make these decisions about Spence's treatment.

  2. You need to get the level out - that's what my brother-in-law/nephew did - http://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=3254444050525&set=a.1038806380968.2007854.1549791265&type=3&theater

  4. I think Glen is a teeny bit taller. Watch out though, cause Spence is sure to catch him soon!

I haven't had a green meal in a long time. Happy St Patty's Day. We did not celebrate. )o:

We will be saying extra prayers for your hard decisions!

  6. Lara, it was wonderful to see you at church today and to speak with you for a moment. Even in the midst of all you have going on right now, you find the time and energy to reach out to others. You look lovely, by the way. It was wonderful to see Spencer, too. Your blog is a constant source of inspiration. I sometimes check it two or three times a day, and even if there are no new posts, I'll re-read what you've written. I even quoted you on our own family blog this past weekend. The grace, courage, and faith with which you and your family are facing the immense challenges before you is astounding and truly remarkable. I wish I had the words to tell you the anxiety and concern we feel on your behalf and the hope we cling to for you and yours to find brighter days ahead. Thank you, Lara, for inspiring and uplifting me (and so many others). Our prayers and hearts are with you.

  7. Andrew says pretty much the same thing as me, "His Dad is taller, but soon Spencer will be taller."

  8. I think it was Glen at the time of this photo, but Spence has probably already caught up in the hours since the photo was taken.

  9. We often have this debate in my house between Tom and me. I think Glen has it by a fraction of an inch, but I've thought that about me vs. Tom for a while, and yet when we go back to back he seems to be gaining an advantage. I don't think he has grown any in the past 4 or 5 years, so I think I must be going the other way. So, even if Spencer doesn't grow another half inch, I predict he'll have Glen for sure in a few short years.
