School supply shopping for 170.
I'm not sure how I get myself into these large, time consuming projects time after time after time...
but I definitely learned a few things from last year's experience (like getting an earlier start, not trying to do everything myself, and not storing everything at my house) and am hoping that this year will go much smoother.
Here's a little glimpse at this year's shopping list:
1900 glue sticks
3500 pencils
387 composition notebooks
160 pairs of scissors
149 boxes of Kleenex
149 containers of Clorox wipes
144 boxes of crayons
207 highlighters
179 large pink erasers
76 rulers
84 packs of markers
76 packs of colored pencils
224 bright felt tip marking pens
plus many, many more items.

I know, I know. It's apparent that I need to get my head checked, but I'm looking at it from the optimistic point of view in that I do this now for the PTA and I've done my duty for the whole year!
Next year-you may just need to say "no" to the PTA president and offer to mentor some other young(er) mother.
ReplyDeleteAlthough you may have trouble saying the dreaded "no" word, almost every community education division has a special (usually only once a year) "learning to say no" class.
Wow, I'm surprised you decided to do this again this year. But having last year's experience to learn from must be helpful! By next year you'll be a pro and can even do it for multiple schools! =)
ReplyDeleteSure is a lot of school supplies. The stuffed car, hopefully, is at least half of what you need.
ReplyDeleteSure hope you get the help you asked for.
I can help if you need! Just call or email :)
ReplyDeleteOne word: EduKit: https://www.marshallroadpta.org/suppliesedukit.html
ReplyDeleteWe actually looked into Edukit this year, but for our school it actually ends up being a great fundraiser for the PTA and it didn't seem like the kits make much money when using a company like Edukit. We'll have to see about when I "retire" from it, since I have a feeling they're going to have a very hard time finding someone quite as crazy as I am about doing it.
ReplyDeleteDad, Are you calling me old?
