Day 46--Slim Pickings

I have to admit that I just didn't take very many interesting pictures today. I took a few of Ellie and a few of some potato pancakes we made this morning. I figured out of the two that you'd probably most like to see the potato pancakes....so here you go!

Haha. Ellie didn't think that was so funny either.

Day 44--Don't Look Down

As part of homeschooling Spencer this year, we've tried to make Fridays a bit more of a fun day. Today (as it often is) was rock climbing.

Spencer is constantly doing pull-ups on our door frame while training for these kinds of moves on the rock climbing walls. I, for one, am not a huge fan of my children scaling high walls, but it's something that he really enjoys right now so I'm trying not to rain on his parade.

Ellie also enjoys the rock climbing gym. In true princess form, she loves twirling and dancing on the mats...

and even takes advantage of her fancy princess climbing clothes to do a little rock climbing herself.

Free Dance Lessons!

I was having such a grumpy day, when I looked at on my back porch and saw this: Cami and her friend Megan dancing wildly on our picnic table.

Megan got a little self-conscious when I pulled out the camera.

But not my Cami...
she kept going and going...
and going!

Anyone want dance lessons? If nothing else it's sure to make you smile. :)

Cheaper Than Therapy

Day 43--Sweet Dance Moves!

So I hadn't taken a single picture all day (too grumpy and too busy), when I looked outside on our back deck and saw this sight:

Cami and her friend Megan totally dancing and waving on top of our picnic table. Their friend who lives two doors down was dancing on her table as well.

At least it worked for a good picture [and a smile].

Watch Out Vogue!

How cool am I?

Well let's just say that when I was in eighth grade I was cool enough to redefine the word in the dictionary.

Don't tell me. I know I was cute and totally stylin'. Oh yeah, and smart too...notice how "cool" was on the wrong page in the dictionary and I found it anyway.

So when Cami walked out of her room this morning I knew I'd reached an all new level of coolness than I could have ever imagined in eighth grade.

I can already see the dictionary page for "FASHIONABLE" now! Bye bye Heidi Klum! My eleven-year-old daughter wants to dress just like me.

And to think you've witnessed the very beginnings of fashion greatness right here on my humble blog.

Day 42--Spencer's a Star

Tonight was Spencer's Court of Honor. He received 3 merit badges (First Aid, Citizenship in the World, and Citizenship in the Community) and advanced to the rank of Star. We are proud of how hard he's been working in Scouts.

Please ignore Spencer's Scout pants. He keeps growing so darn fast he wears them all of 3 times before he's busting out. Now me busting out of my pants...that's another story and I don't want to talk about it!

Day 41--Oh Crap!

Adam came home from school saying his legs were really tired. Within 15 minutes he was barfing.

Yeah...I'm so not excited! Especially with a girl like Ellie in the house who gets stomach bugs 100 times worse than everyone else. Yuck.

Best Used Cookbook in the House

This little treasure trove of fun cooking ideas for kids was found on the clearance racks at Barnes and Noble. I thought it would give me some fun ideas for creative birthday cakes or lunch ideas...little did I know that it would end up being the best loved cookbook in the whole house.

It's marked up with dozens of sticky notes with hand-written messages such as, "Sav for latr", "Mak soon", "Ellies bithda", or "Reelly good".

It's not that I've developed a sudden "TAMNer" way of spelling (from over at Seriously So Blessed), it's just that this particular cookbook has been taken over by another enthusiastic cook in our family...
He calls it his "cooking bible". He loves perusing it, marking the ideas that look like fun, and even making grocery lists when he's really excited about one of them. Remember his birthday cake from this post? Yep. He picked it right out of this cookbook a good six months before his birthday. Currently he has half the family's picked out for later this year.

So next time you're in the mood for PB & J banana roll-ups, come on over and Adam will serve you some tasty fun in biblical proportions!

I ♥ {Silly Kid} Faces

I had a really hard time narrowing down just one silly picture this week. Anyone who has spent much time here on our blog knows that we have a whole lot of silliness going on at our house.

The story behind the picture: It had been a couple of years since it had really snowed much and the kids were just giddy with excitement. It wasn't even very much snow or very good snow for that matter, but they giggled, jumped, sledded, made snow angels, etc. for hours on end. This photo caught Emma in a particularly giddy moment while she was trying to catch snowflakes on her tongue. Too bad it was barely flurrying by then.

Be sure to check out the I ♥ Faces website for lots more silly photos or to enter your own. You will leave inspired!

Day 40--Indian Summer Days

For our February visiting teaching appointment, my visiting teachers hosted brunch and cookie decorating. Ellie had the time of her life with free reign over little candy hearts. I felt like a queen eating quiche and homemade cinnamon rolls I had not cooked myself.
Then since it was ANOTHER 60° day in February (third in a row), we spent the afternoon at the park, while I snapped pictures like crazy!

Day 39--Silliness Runs in the Family

There's a good chance that you'll see this picture again tomorrow for my I ♥ Faces entry (silly category), but it was such a classic I couldn't resist putting it up for my picture of the day.

We spent the evening at my brother Pete's house with his cute family and my cousin Aaron and his awesome family. Mika made us a delicious dinner....yay, food I didn't have to cook myself and we had a great time eating, chatting, and chilling! We love having family nearby and hope that in time we will have a lot more! (yes K, H, AL, Nate, Tim, Matt, Mom & Dad, Lara, Eric, Ryan, Alex, Kurt...we mean you!)

Note to Self:

1. Stop at grocery store to buy milk, deodorant, and band-aids

2. Go to gym to burn off all the calories from the desserts I keep making solely for the purpose of taking pictures for the recipe blog.

3. Hide the tutus

4. Buy Ellie a whole new wardrobe in monochromatic shades, so I won't have to be quite so flabbergasted when she takes off her coat while on a field trip downtown:

On the bright side: Ellie was happy as a clam for dressing herself and there were a lot of amused people at the American History Museum on Friday!

I ♥ {Silly} Faces

The king of silly!

My cousin Aaron is the king of silly. He refuses to pose nicely for pictures, therefore every photo I have of him looks an awful lot like this. :)
