We have a little 10-year-old girl living in our house whose fondest dream is to have a horse of her own someday. She loves reading about horses, loves daydreaming about horses, and loves pretending she's riding a horse. UP until our vacation, she had actually only ridden a horse just once in her lifetime and still she talks about it like it's a highlight in her life.
So when she learned that there was a horse riding stable near to the cabin, Ellie begged us to take her. It didn't fit in well with our plans and frankly no one else was all that excited about it, but because it meant so much to her, we decided to do it anyway.
It was hot that day and we were toasty and sore by the end.
I can write anything here and no one will notice. blah, blah, blah. The world is ending tomorrow. I decided to stop shaving my legs forever. blah, blah, blah. I am going to eat only cheez-its for the rest of the month. If I had to choose between Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton for president, I might renounce my American citizenship on the spot. blah, blah, blah.
But for city folk like us, it ended up being a unique and memorable experience.
Even if it did make us extra grateful for cars with air conditioning....
and padded seats!

Love the pictures!! Emma loves horse riding too!! You ever make it back to MN, look my brother up! He has a hobby horse farm that he would let your daughter ride! Emma loves visiting him now that he has horses!!
You are a silly sister. If you're going to eat nothing but cheese its for awhile you better at least try the cheddar jack flavor!
Glad Ellie got to go riding!!
It had better not come down to Donald and Hillary. That would be a sad day for America!
