Cookies and Cuties

This week I am tense, tired, and unfocused.  I've spent all day every day running non-stop and at the end of the day can't figure out what it was that I've accomplished in all that running.

I guess that's why I'm craving chocolate chip cookies with every fiber of my being today.  Warm, soft, right out of the oven, and oozing with melted chocolate.  I've pretty much thought of little else since about 10:00 this morning.   Drool. drool. drool.  A little bit of snappiness, a whole lot of drooling,  and three-fourths of a pack of gum later and I think I can say that I've officially conquered one of the strongest sugar cravings I've experienced yet.

On days like this though, there is one craving I can't get enough of....
It's the anticipation of waking up in the morning and wondering what outfit my five-year-old will put together today.  And I hesitate to admit this, but I crave the backwards shirts and tutus over pants with the cowboy boots, more than I crave a cute matching outfit, because it never fails to put a smile on my face.  I seriously hope she takes a long, long time to outgrow this eclectic fashion sense, because this is one craving that won't give me fat thighs.  :)

(PS--I planted all that random stuff in my car, so as not to make anyone feel badly about my spotlessly clean car.)

You are an amazing woman Lara! I want those cookies too! Right now! Are you still on your dessert only on Sunday diet?

Ellie bellie is so awesomely adorable!

Yes, K, it is my intention to stay on this once a week sugar diet for the indefinite future. I feel like it's the only way I can keep it under control right now. Someday I'll try to be less strict and more moderate, but I'm not there yet.

Ellie is so cute! I love her mismatched outfits too!
You're a good soul for being able to resist the desserts:)

Funny...I was thinking about the same thing today (about the fashion part...but now I am craving cookies!!)

My oldest daugther is very similar to your daughter, and I am very similar to you, in that I look forward to her fashion decisions. All she did today was roll up her jeans till they were 3/4 jeans...but I thought..she's so unique! As I was putting her clothes away, I was reminded of her combinations that she puts together and just smiled. I love her quirky cute styles!

good for you! now that I've got a 6 month old I'm starting to think I should help myself lose some baby weight. I think I'll do it my old fashioned way and start going on long walks lol! we have the ecletic dressers over here too! fits our schooling style. and I feel much better about my van... not that it is any cleaner but that it's reassuring others look very similar!

the weekend is almost here! you can make it!!

Yay, Lara! You are amazing. I have a friend here in MN who is doing the no sugar thing too and she says it does get easier the longer you do it...but wow! That's quite an accomplishment. Ryan is out of town this week and let's just say that next time I go to Costco I need to ask them to permanently ban me from purchasing Kettle Corn and M&M's.

You rock!!!

I appreciate you planting random stuff in your car to make me feel better. It totally worked. And I love Ellie's outfits!

Lara-you are a wonder!! Amazed at your tenacity and willpower.

And like you, we love your little fashion diva. She is the absolute cutest little doll.

Yeah, the sugar cravings do come full force when you're stressed out. Funny how we always seem to be running errands but never seem to get them all taken care of. I feel the same way about my week. All I've done is run around and I still have all these unfinished projects (and a progressively dirtier house since I haven't cleaned a stitch this week) and I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to hit all the places I need to go today, much less attack any projects or attempt to clean my house.

But yet I'm still taking the time to leave a comment on your blog.

At least I've got my priorities straight!

Mmmm... cookies sound SO good. Too bad I am being good, like really good, like I have lost 8 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks good.

Love your daughter's fashion sense. It's a bit harder for boys to do that since mostly they just have jeans and shirts!

After looking at your blog, I now want to go and eat chocolate chip cookies.
Also, Ellie's outfit reminds me of Kylie's creative ways. She also has red boots that she puts on with almost every CREATIVE outfit.

That picture of Ellie makes me laugh every time I see it :o) What a character!

I am highly impressed that you have stuck with the limited-sugar diet. Might have to try it myself one of these days.
