Ice and Cheese

Yesterday brought us about 3/4-inch of snow and an ice storm that ended church right after sacrament meeting yesterday and  has school canceled for today....

The power went out for several hours last night, which led us to double up everyone into the beds and pull out the sleeping bags and extra blankets, but it came on again around 3:00am, popped off and on again a few more times before coming back on for good.

We awoke this morning warm and cozy  and in awe of the icy winter wonderland around us....

The  streets, sidewalks, trees, bushes, deck, bird feeder, windchimes, and cars were all covered with beautiful a layer of glistening ice.
Now we are enjoying a laid back day at home with plans to include card making, baking, online Christmas shopping, movie watching, and of course playing outside in the snow and ice!
This ice leaf was our favorite find of the day.  We assume that it formed on top of a leaf and slid off into the snow.  In any case, it was absolutely gorgeous!

Spence on the other hand is in the middle of the same ice storm and his first ever college finals...
He comes home later this week, which meant that we needed to restock the groceries before his arrival...
That and a few crackers and I think we're about ready now.
