Pinewood Derby

[pīn-wood dur-bee]
noun

The pinewood derby is a racing event where Cub Scouts race small wooden cars on a track.  The event is known to raise blood pressure in both adult males and females and it is generally accepted that the winners of this event have the dad with the manliest tool collection.

Based on this assessment, let it be known that Glen's tool collection is 100% middle-of-the-road average and that Lara is looking forward to another three years hence to be done with this chest-thumping man contest once and for all.

Totally hear ya. I was thinking about it the other day and figured out that as soon as Nolan is done with scouts it's going to start all over again with Mason. :)

His record is far better than mine, as I honestly believe that not one of my four sons ever won as much as one single heat in many years of Pinewood Derbying. It is very hard for me to admit, but I am a PWD failure. My personal apologies to each of my deprived sons. Hope you do better with your sons.

BTW Adam, sweet looking car!!!

Most of the cars our boys made were basically the painted block of wood with the wheels on. And the paint was dried with a hair dryer within an hour of the races. Dad was generally traveling at pinewood derby time so it was up to me. Sad, sad, sad.
