Shmucks!

Business partnerships with public schools. Sounds warm and fuzzy, doesn't it?

My kids fill in a reading chart, they get a coupon for a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. Yay for them. Of course would we ever go to Pizza Hut just for ONE personal pan pizza? Of course not. It would be 5 personal pan pizzas plus something for Glen and I.

A couple of years ago, in rebellion, I just stopped filling out those reading charts. We read together every day anyway and I don't need a chart to prove it. [I'm rebellious like that a lot you know].

So here's a new one I didn't see coming. A few days ago we got a letter home from school saying that Emma's artwork has been specially chosen to adorn the local McDonalds for the month and here's a coupon for a free ice cream cone.

Whoa! Specially chosen? Our daughter's destined to be a famous artist?! Like the doting parents that we are, we secretly started planning Emma's future career path, whilst Emma started going crazy with curiosity at which piece of her artwork received this high acclaim.

So what did we do?

We morphed into total shmucks, that's what we did.

On the bright side Emma was ecstatic to find out that it was her ice cream cone shaped ice cream shop that had won the honor of adorning Mickey D's wall for the next few weeks and I got to blog instead of cleaning the kitchen tonight.

Hey Shmucks, I'm so disappointed you bought Mickey D's for the whole family. What will you think of next? (For those of you who don't know me, I'm kidding)

Sounds like a fun night to me! I totally agree with you on the restaurant incentive programs.

Can't believe that you buy each of your kids a full Big Mac. Remember when you were kids and we used to buy one regular hamburger for two of you to share. And one cone for all of you.

What a leap from the dark ages to life in the modern world.

Congrats Emmakins!! We love you and are very proud of you.

Big macs, Dad?! Not a single one of us got a Big Mac. It was chicken sandwiches and happy meals...just as caloric and expensive probably, but it was not a Big Mac!

School is just one big con game...we fall for it all the time.

We just dropped 11 bucks at Pizza Hut last night in the name of book-it, too! I'm with you, I don't bother to fill out those reading charts---they are insulting since my kids are reading ALL the time.
