Taking a page from my sister Kristina's idea book I decided to post a "Flashback Friday" photo collage today.
When I was visiting my parents' house a few weeks ago, I came across this picture of my when I was about 6 or 7 years old wearing this beautiful dress my aunts Valerie and Marva had made for me one year for Christmas, along with the homemade doll (can you believe people had patience enough to make a doll?) and matching dress. It was a favorite in my wardrobe for years, in fact I vividly remember jump roping on the playground in it and attempting to do headstands in gym class in it, in addition to wearing it to church.
Now almost thirty years later it's still in perfect condition (unlike the flimsy clothes of modern day that fall apart after a few washings ) and Emma is in love with the dress too. We never have located the actual doll, but Emma wears the dress and puts the matching dress on her American Girl doll and thinks it's the coolest thing ever.
Thank you Marva and Valerie for your labor of love all those years ago. It was a treasure to me then and remains a treasure today! :)

I like that dress! It is way cute! That's awesome that it has lasted so long.
I can't believe you still have it! That is awesome! What a wonderful treasure to pass on to your girls!
I remember the dresses and the dolls too. I wonder if Mom still has mine.
I love those dresses and dolls too. Marva and Valerie have really given us some wonderful homemade gifts. ( The best kind in my book.) I might have yours too K, but after all our moves, I'm not making any promises.
